I will hold back from putting in my essay about ABO and gender roles and cool ways it can subvert them BUT! I love the idea of like alphas being useless when omega isn’t around. Everything they do is for them. If there is no them- what does one do?

As the divine corazondebeskar-reads says in of rage and ruin - oh alphas get all these abilities and I as omega just get debilitatingly horny?

But omegas hold more weight than they think. All those abilities alphas get? Well in an alphas mind it’s only used for getting the omega whatever they want. (+ alphas do not equal men I’ve seen MANY examples to the contrary)

PLEASE give your essay, if you so please! and before i respond to all of this, i need to stress, yes. alpha ≠ a man—and i think that’s actually a notion that’s wildly accepted by people who enjoy the omegaverse!!! i’ve seen sooo many variations of the pairing. cis gender pairings. trans pairings. non binary pairings. queer pairings. and the beauty is, you can assign the role to whoever the fuck you want in the dynamic, and still explore the core nature of what that role entails! i just happen to be someone who writes it as an M/F pairing with the male character being and alpha and the female character being the omega. but that is certainly not law, and i think it’s super fucking cool that it’s a trope that has so much freedom to explore outside the binary and “traditional” gender roles.

i 100% believe the omega holds more power in the dynamic, full stop LMAO. i fucking love that scene from @corazondebeskar-reads fic, and what i think toni does so beautifully following that moment is demonstrating how much control reader really does have over their situation despite being the one that “only gets horny.” the way readers animalistic tendencies, instincts, and insight start to shape the longer she can ease into her designation is fucking brilliant. and i love that we get to see her real power take shape despite not having any outwardly manifesting abilities, so to speak.

in my little universe, joel isn’t… anything until he has her. what he is he views as a limitation, a disease. but as soon as he has this counterpart that beautifully fits into this empty socket he’s carried around his whole life, it’s like the light floods in. her needs are his first priority; his become secondary. he is at her beck and call. he starts to function at less usual capacity when she is gone, because she is his power source. @kiwisbell and i yap about this all the time, but he really is wrapped around her finger. he has one job: tend to her and breed her lol and he’ll be damned if he doesn’t bend over backward to provide. she asks something of him??? yes ma’am, no questions asked. his “strength” and “dominance” may as well be obsolete when a task dealt by her hand is at the forefront. ok, i’ve sufficiently babbled enough. but i love this!! never stop!!

thinking about an estranged childhood friends to lovers story with gojo……

you’re a rowdy kid. during one of your adventures, you end up at the gojo estate; sneaking your way into a vast, beautiful garden, pretty pink roses as far as the eye can see. little gojo is crouched down, watching tiny sprouts grow, and you’re too captivated to look away. bright snowy hair, striking blue eyes, all dolled up in a fancy yukata. he turns to meet your gaze — and all you give him is a sheepish laugh, before strolling over to introduce yourself. he doesn’t seem to mind the company, so you keep coming over to play with him. you bring cool rocks, pretty cicadas you caught, a dusty gameboy. he listens to you speak. he watches the way you move, wave your hands when you’re excited. he grows so, so fond of you.

one day, you stop coming by to see him — and he doesn’t need confirmation to know that one of the maids must have chased you off.

twenty years later, you meet him again, in a crowded little café. he calls out for you by name and you have no idea who you’re looking at. a tall, handsome, cheery man… wearing a blindfold? and shooting you a charming grin. you have no idea who he is, but he remembers you. he remembers you a lot more than he should. he chides you for forgetting your very best friend, but there’s nothing but humour in his voice. you watch as he speaks, as he moves, as he taps his feet under the table after insisting you order something — his treat. you still don’t remember him.

but you’re captivated, all the same.

I want Tommy to keep calling him Evan, because before Buck was Buck he was Evan and Evan deserves to be happy to be treated so softly and lovingly and Evan deserves to be free.
